A rant and a cake with a message

12 Sep

While chatting recently with a female friend I happened to mention that I had the PERFECT cake design for her birthday (which had passed) if only her BF would have ordered! That started a long conversation about one thing women want and rarely get.

No, not cake (okay maybe cake too!).

What say you? Skip the small talk and tell you already??! LOL! (I admit it, I’m more than a little odd).

We want a guy who can be romantic and knows exactly what to get for us for those special occasions.

I know. You’re thinking that people are not mind readers. Well, except for that dude on The Listener! But after spending time so much time with a person, how difficult is it to know their likes and dislikes? Their style? If you’re with a girl and she never wears jewellery, maybe it’s because she hates it. So don’t go out and buy her a fancy gold chain just because it’s the easiest thing to buy. (If she can’t afford it… then you can’t g0 wrong!)

Think! It’s not going to hurt you! Your mind could do with the exercise.

Although I would LOVE it if my guy knew EXACTLY what to get for me for my birthday I’ve found that the best way is to tell him. *sigh* So lists of potential presents are made and he gets to choose one (or 2 if I’m lucky). That way, it’s still a surprise (sorta) and definitely something I know I want.

But they are out there. Maybe one in a thousand… or million. Just like this guy who wanted a simple yet elegant cake for his girlfriend. He knew her style and he even knew her favourite colours! *gasp* The added message was just beautiful and so romantic. And the cake was a surprise (another win).

He was kind enough to leave this message on our Facebook page:

“Absolutely amazing work and great service! Thank You so much for giving my girlfriend’s birthday that extra umph making it all the more an extra special day. You brought my vision to life with such elegance and artistic flare, for that I am truly greatful. Thank You again.”
